History

Early roots

Founded in 2005 as a web and mobile application development company, Conatus has worked with many distinguished clients, such as Microsoft, Kobo, and shomi. It wasn't until early 2013, thanks to an unexpected connection on TIGSource, that Conatus focused its energy as a creative studio, with the launch of River City Ransom: Underground on Kickstarter, one of the very first Canadian projects on the platform.

A successful Kickstarter campaign to revive the cult classic North American rendition of Technōs Japan's Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari (River City Ransom) was only the beginning of a development journey that brought together a talented group of passionate independent game creators from across the globe. The River City Ransom core development team hails from Canada, the United States, Australia, and Japan.
